Author Rodney Phillips has been featured in ForbesPost for his debut thriller, Dissension: A Disagreement That Leads to Discord. The article, titled “Dissension: A Bold Debut That Explores Power, Loyalty, and the Human Cost of Conflict,” highlights Phillips’ gripping storytelling, emotionally layered characters, and ability to blend high-stakes crime fiction with deeper human themes.
Set against the volatile backdrop of Miami, Dissension explores a dangerous conflict between rival factions, where power shifts, loyalty is tested, and survival comes at a cost. ForbesPost describes the novel as a work that balances intensity with emotional depth, positioning Phillips as a new voice in contemporary thriller fiction.
The feature also recognizes the novel’s strong cast of characters, including investigators, cartel figures, and ordinary people unexpectedly drawn into dangerous circumstances. At the center of the story is Kiley Morgan, a young law student whose transformation becomes one of the novel’s most compelling emotional threads.
“This recognition means a great deal to me because Dissension was written not only as a thriller, but as a story about loyalty, consequence, and the strength people discover when they are pushed beyond what they thought they could endure,” said Rodney Phillips. “I am grateful to see the book connecting with readers and being recognized for the depth behind the suspense.”
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Phillips holds a master’s degree in human resource leadership management and has built a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. Beyond his professional work, he has spent more than twenty years coaching youth football and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, reflecting his longstanding commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community involvement.
Published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Dissension is a 288-page mystery and thriller title available in paperback and digital formats. The book is currently listed through major platforms, including Apple Books and Bookshop.org.
