Nicole Evans Brings the Language of Theater, Childhood and Self-Discovery Together Across Three Distinctive Books

Nicole Evans brings theater, education, storytelling, and imaginative play together across three distinctive books: My Life as a STAGE: Living the LANGUAGE of the Theater, The One & Only Owen, and Little Gloria Goodman Is Always on the GO! Drawing from her 25 years of experience as an actor, director, writer, and educator, Evans explores creativity, identity, self-discovery, and the importance of being present. Her children’s stories encourage young readers to recognize their individuality, appreciate their surroundings, and embrace imagination, while her theater-focused work introduces readers to the language, traditions, and artistry of live performance.

Fort Collins, CO – Aug 20th 2026: What can theater, storytelling and imaginative play teach about how people understand themselves and the world around them? For author, educator, actor and director Nicole Evans, that question has shaped a body of work that introduces readers to performance, creativity, identity and the value of being present.

At the center of Evans’ work is My Life as a STAGE: Living the LANGUAGE of the Theater, a poetry-driven exploration of what happens behind the curtain. The book introduces readers to the terminology, traditions, people and technical artistry that make live theater possible, addressing questions such as why curtains, scenery and performers can fly and why a single light is traditionally left glowing on an empty stage.

The book reflects the author’s own longstanding relationship with the performing arts. For 25 years, she has worked as an actor, director, writer and educator. She earned a bachelor’s degree in theater and education from Indiana University and has taught theater to youth and adults across the United States. She currently teaches kindergarten at a magnet school focused on gifted and cultural arts studies.

Her other books extend that interest in creativity and personal growth into stories designed for younger audiences. The One & Only Owen follows an earthworm who questions his value after comparing himself with the remarkable creatures around him. With guidance from Butterfly, Owen comes to understand his role in the garden and the importance of becoming the best version of himself.

Little Gloria Goodman Is Always on the GO! addresses a different question familiar to children and adults alike: What can be missed when life becomes an endless sequence of plans and activities? The rhyming story follows Gloria, an energetic child whose constant busyness prompts reflection on the importance of appreciating the present.

Together, the books reflect Nicole’s experience as an educator and storyteller and her interest in helping young readers examine creativity, identity and everyday choices. Her broader work includes children’s stories, coloring books and other creative projects, while her professional life remains closely connected to education and the performing arts.

In an era when structured schedules and digital entertainment increasingly surround children, these books return attention to storytelling, imagination and the value of creative expression. They ask readers to consider not only what they see onstage, but what they bring to their own lives.

All books are now available in print and digital formats at leading online bookstores.
